Monitoring, Assessment and Evaluation

Since the success of a participatory project results not only from the direct outcome of the project, but also from process that people had to engage in to achieve that outcome, monitoring, assessment and evaluation are a central part of all YAN activities and aim at helping everyone involved – young activists, facilitators and network coordinators – keep learning and improving over time.

In our understanding, monitoring includes all the activities that young activists and facilitators carry every YAN session and throughout the entire lifecycle of the projects to make sure everything is going fine; assessment are activities that occur more at the beginning and end of projects and help participants reflect about what resulted from their efforts; and evaluation includes all sorts of things that are produced to show people not directly involved with the projects what has happened.
