Monitoring,
Assessment and Evaluation
Since the success of
a participatory project results not only from the direct
outcome of the project, but also from process that people
had to engage in to achieve that outcome, monitoring,
assessment and evaluation are a central part of all
YAN activities and aim at helping everyone involved

– keep learning and improving over time.
In our understanding,
monitoring includes all the activities that young activists
and facilitators carry every YAN session and throughout
the entire lifecycle of the projects to make sure everything
is going fine; assessment are activities that occur
more at the beginning and end of projects and help participants
reflect about what resulted from their efforts; and
evaluation includes all sorts of things that are produced
to show people not directly involved with the projects
what has happened.
