Congratulations to our MAS.965 Developmental Entrepreneurship (DE) students Matthias Criag, Alex Ricardo Jimenez, and Rolo Duartes for winning a $1K Warm-up prize for their blueEnergy entry!  blueEnergy plans to harness wind power to provision electricity & potable water in Latin America via locally fabricated turbines & systems.

An additional delight for us about this team is that they are an interdisciplinary group drawn from MIT's Civil & Environmental Engineering department, Urban Studies & Planning department, and the Harvard J.F. Kennedy School of Government respectively!  Such creative linkages are precisely what we hoped for in creating the MAS.965 seminar and what we hope to expand and build upon in the future.

Kudos generally to everyone in the Seminar for proposing worthy developmental venture plans & entering the MIT $50K Entrepreneurship Competition -- http://50k.mit.edu   We hope you'll continue your entrepreneurial endeavors and that you'll stay in touch with us and classmates from now onward.

As mentioned at our Final session this past Friday, both Sandy and I are quite keen to see MIT play an entrepreneurial and transformative role in creating & bringing developmental technologies to bear on what we might call the "1G Challenges" -- the problems faced by at least a billion people worldwide, especially the poorest of the global poor.  We can and must multiply our efforts here to accelerate such progress!

If there's anything we can do to help you in the future, please drop a line -- sandy@media.mit.edu & jpbonsen@sloan.mit.edu
