Mixing Media

The name "Scratch" comes from the technique used by hip-hop disc jockeys to mix together music clips. When we created Scratch, we hoped that people would use it in a similar way, to mix together media for creative expression.

So I was excited when this project appeared on the Scratch website, shortly after we launched the site in 2007. The project takes a popular character from German literature and extends it in creative directions, mixing together many different types of media (graphics, photos, music, sound) to create a project that is part-story and part-game.
