Thank
you for your interest in getting involved with the Young
Activists Network!
If you want
to become a Young Activist and help make a difference in your
community, the best way is either to join an existing YAN
location or fill in the young
activist interest form. As a Young Activist you will:
- Identify community issues
and do something about them
- Develop your leadership
and teamwork skills
- Learn to use cool multimedia
technology
- Meet interesting people
- Have fun!
If you want
to help youth get organized and demonstrate all their power,
you can either volunteer with us as a YAN Facilitator or as
a Friend of YAN.
YAN
Facilitators work with youth an average of 4 or 5
hours a week. In general, YAN Facilitators are organized in
"task-force" teams of 3 or 4 that are responsible for helping
young people in pretty much everything they will need to develop
their projects: recruiting new activists, organizing sessions,
contacting local organizations, etc. In addition to that,
YAN Facilitators are also responsible for keeping a journal
about the evolution of their work, participate in an email
discussion list, and attend workshops and meetings with other
facilitators. Interested? Have questions? Please download
this
form. Fill it out and email it to us at yan.media.mit.edu
or mail it to us.
Friends
of YAN are usually people interested in contributing
to certain aspects of YAN but, for one reason or another,
cannot be part of the regular activities of the projects.
Among other things, Friends of YAN help in the organization
of workshops, creation of support materials, software development,
and any other matter that may require their expertise. Interested?
Please download this
form. Fiil it out and email it to us at yan.media.mit.edu
or mail it to us.
