MAS 712
Teaching Assistant: Special Topics in Creative Learning Technologies
|
This course explores the design of new educational technologies to support creative thinking and learning. It focuses on extended case studies of technologies and activities being developed by the Lifelong Kindergarten group at the MIT Media Lab.
|
MAS 690
Independent Study In Media Arts and Sciences
|
I am studying the state of open source design tools as they pertain to personal fabrication and education. My colleagues in the Fab Labs and I are working on improving the software design tools that youth are using in their various projects.

MAS 834 Tangible Interfaces
|
This project-based course will explore the design space of TUIs, a new form of HCI, which focuses on the physical embodiment of computational media. Tangible Interfaces will make bits accessible through augmented physical surfaces (e.g. walls, desktops, ceilings, windows), graspable objects (e.g. building blocks, models, instruments) and ambient media (e.g. light, sound, airflow, water-flow, kinetic sculpture) within physical environments.

MAS 863
How To Make Almost Anything
|
The name of this class speaks for itself. Each week, we explore a
different machine in the shop or fabrication process. Each student
turns in a final project that demonstrates that they can make
something interesting that uses many of the processes covered.

Bridging
From Theory to Design Into Practice - @ Harvard's GSE
|
In this class (offered through the Technology in Education
department), we examine three major theoretical stances in education
and how they play themselves out in design and practice. We focus on
cognitivism (e.g., Newell and Simon), sociocultural theories (e.g.,
Vygotsky), and constructivism (e.g., Piaget).
