Phyllis' Herring


1 Jar of fillets of herring in wine sauce.

1 Bermuda onion, sliced thinly.

2-3 tbs of sugar.

1/2 pint sour cream.


1. Drain herring. Discard any onions.

2. Place Bermuda onion in bottom of shallow bowl.

3. Sprinkle with sugar and add herring on top.

4. Cover, then refridgerate at least 3 days.

5. Drain off most of the liquid.

6. Mix in sour cream.

7. Serve chilled.

Serves 6. Terrific served with rye bread and sliced Granny Smith apples.
