What's a Dreyfoos Professor?
Mr. Dreyfoos is
Chairman and owner of the Dreyfoos Group/Photo Electronics Corporation
and recently sold WPEC - TV 12. He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree from
M.I.T. and a Masters Degree in Business
Administration from Harvard Business School. He is an inventor, holding
ten U.S. patents and numerous foreign patents in the fields of electronics
and photography.
Mr. Dreyfoos was instrumental in forming and served as first Chairman
of the Palm Beach County Council of the Arts. He is a trustee of the M.I.T.
Corporation and chairs the Visiting Committee for the Department of Architecture
and Media Arts and Sciences.
He is a Director of the Trudeau Institute in Saranac Lake, New York.
He serves as a Governor Appointee to the Florida Council of 100. He is
a Founding Member, Director, and former Chairman of the Economic Council
of Palm Beach County.
He serves as a Director of Good Samaritan Health systems, Inc. He is
an active member of the World Presidents' Organization and a former member
of Y.P.O.
Mr. Dreyfoos has received numerous distinctions for his community involvement.
Among them, The Palm Beach Post Business Leader of the Year and Man of
the Year, Palm Beach Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors' Special Award
and One and Only Award, Nova University's Entrepreneur Hall of Fame Award,
Florida Master Entrepreneur of the Year Award from Ernst & Young and
Merrill Lynch, Palm Beach Atlantic College American Free Enterprise Award,
and Northwood University's Outstanding Business Leader Award.
Hawley's assistant professorship is supported by a special "career development"
chair endowed by Alex W. Dreyfoos.
