Project proposal: The In between

This project will take a decidedly low tech approach (ie. non software
based) towards illuminating some possibilities and problems involved in the
actions of collaboration and medial digestion which relate to our
information rich society.  I am interested in areas of communication which
break down, dissolve and mutate into unintentions of relay.  These are
places where noise is a modulating factor and outcome sometimes generate
interesting suprises.
I will present a short historical record of avant garde traditions which
utilize  actions of suprise and chaotic constructs as a means towards
creative expression.  Some of these include the Surrealist project of
exquisite corpse, 19th century parlor games, dadaist and fluxis traditions,
action painting and machines made for drawing.
After this cursory overview, I will demonstrate some devices that I have
made which involve image generation affected by two or more "players."
