Winslow Burleson is a Ph.D. candidate in the Affective Computing Group at the MIT Media Lab working on Affective Learning Companions. He has also been highly involved with the Context-Aware Computing Group since its inception in 1999. Before coming to MIT he worked in the USER Group at IBM's Almaden Research Center in the department of Computer Science. After completing a Master of Science degree at Stanford University's Mechanical Engineering Product Design Program he served as a lecturer on brainstorming, creativity, and visual thinking within that department. Prior work included curriculum development at the SETI Institute, co-principal investigator on the Hubble Space Telescope's Investigation of Binary Asteroids, and consultant to UNICEF and the World Scout Bureau on Healthy Lifestyles for Youth. He holds a bachelor's degree in physics from Rice University.
