AT&T ORCA Foundry Tools

The page should be constantly updated by the people who are users of this software at this site. We are all responsible to keeping the information current whenever you make changes, or discover errors. Various pieces of information are scattered in the release notes, installation guides, readme files, online documentation, web sites, bug fix reports, or even words of mouth from the FAEs. It takes a lot of time to read all the relevant documentation, plowing through web sites, and talking to (and getting answers from) the tech support people. It would save others (and yourself, believe me you will forget) a lot of time if all the relevant information can be kept in one place and constantly updated.

Installation Notes

Foundry 9.1 Installation

Installed Foundry v9.1 and patches a, c, d, and e. Did not install device libraries which we do not use to save disk space. Therefore, to use a device not in this installation, you need to re-install everything.

Foundry 9.1 was installed on July 15, 1997 by Ken Ling-Pei Kung.

Foundry 9.0 Reinstallation

For some reason, the Froundry utilities were not working and needed to be reinstalled. Foundry 9.0 was reinstalled. Update A, which incorporates patch.a and patch.b, was installed on top of that. The latest patch, patch.d, was retrieve from orca.fast.net and installed on top of that. For more information on the update and patches read readme.90a, readme.90b, Update A release notes and readme.90d.

Foundry was reinstalled on January 23 and 24, 1997 by Chris McEniry.

In addition to reinstallation, the inittab file on dairy-queen was modified so that the Synopsys and Foundry license daemons(lmgrd) would load on boot. See the HP-UX Administrator's Manual for information on how to do this.

Foundry 9.0 Installation

This version fixes some bugs and system crash problems of version 7.1. For details, please see the readme files for patch a and patch b.

This patch is installed on Nomember 27, 1996 by Ken Ling-Pei Kung.

Foundry 7.1 Installation

We have installed the following pieces of software under /att_orca on dairy-queen:

Note that we have only one node locked license on dairy-queen.

Setting Up Environment Variables and Path

Each user need to include a dotfile package "att_orca" in your .csh_env file. This package contains necessary environment variables. I suggest you include the following lines in your .csh_env file

if (`hostname` == dairy-queen) then
        setenv GARDEN_PREPEND att_orca
else
endif

Foundry 9.0 added a little bit to its license server. The following lines need to be added to you .csh_env file in order to use the Foundry 9.0 utilities.

# Add lmgrd license variable for ORCA Foundry
if ( `hostname` == dairy-queen ) then
        setenv LM_LICENSE_FILE /att_orca/license/license.txt
endif
