F.O.E.
(Friends/Family Of Erik)
Yes! I actually manage to have friends! Isn't that amazing? And to think that some of them will actually talk to me after I LART them.
- Mr. Christopher and
Dr. Donna Wren are
longtime good friends and the most studly pair of nerds I know.
- Michael Patrick
Johnson or Mike, as most of us know him. Mike's kinda weird, but
then again, so am I by any "normal" definition. So there you go.
- Aaron St.Pierre is my housemate, and took my job at Houghton Mifflin when I left. He's a SysAdmin, too.
- Aubrey Minnis is a longstanding partner in
mayhem. Very few people understand her as I do. The
reverse can probably be said, too. Aubrey has no life currently;
though she graduated from Edinboro
University of Pennsylvania with a degree in Art. Actually, she now
DOES have a job. And a boyfriend. Though she still doesn't have a clue
as to what she really wants. Maybe someday she'll blunder into it.
- Jennifer Bailey who
was so recently just "Jen Johnson". A dear friend, Jen's now married
to a great guy (Tim Bailey) and lives in Burbank, CA. Tim's an
animator for "The Simpsons", and Jen's trying to break in to Hollywood
as a producer (Oops, my mistake, Jen!). Right now, she works at NBC
doing things I really don't know. Or want to know. TV. Whadda life. I
don't see or talk to either of them anywhere near enough. :-(
- Ken Russell is a
spastic bundle of pure coding energy. Although why the hell he wrote a
OpenGL to
Scheme (a LISP dialect) interpreter is beyond the ken (pun
intended) of mortal man...
- Flavia Sparacino is a Sicillain woman. 'nuff said.
- Thad Starner is into some really neat
wearable computers. He's a good friend, and a real old fossil like
me. (Geeze, fossilized at 28...). The Significant Other of the couple
is Tavenner Hall, whose a wonderful person, and I'm all too jealous of
Thad. She's a Rock person (ie, geologist) and works for the local
Smithsonian branch, in addition to running her parent's Bookstore in
Tennessee. How she does it, I don't know.
- Sumit Basu (the guy
I share my office with... (actually, not anymore))
- Dana Kirsch defies
explanation. Tried. Failed. Miserably. Maybe you can succeed.
- Karen Anewalt - one of my C.S. friends from Allegheny College, she's now working on a PhD in C.S at William & Mary.
- Mary Mcleery - another friend from Allegheny, she's just starting her grad work at American University. (I'll get on her about a web page, I promise!) Also, I know her fiance, Vi-Min Choong (who's a math grad student at William and Mary).
My Family! No, I don't have any weird pictures of them (yet...) Maybe someday, but for now:
- My Parents: Reed and
Lee are teachers in western Pennsylvannia. In their spare time,
they harrass the hell out of me trying to figure out what I'm up
to. Way to go, Mom & Dad! <wink> (they only have
email, no web right now - I'll get on them about that). My dad is
starting to take his ques from me, though, as he is now the Systems
person for his school district. What is that old say? Insanity: you
inherit it from your kids.
- New! I now have a picture of my parents on their
trip to Down Under (Australia, that is). They look so tan, and
I haven't seen my Dad in a beard forever. Boy, does he look odd...
- My Brother: Ryan.
He just graduated with a B.S. in Biology from
Juniata College in central PA. He
was going to live with me this year, but he bailed on me and is now
camped out in PennState, working at an outdoors store with some
friends. He recently got accepted to the Pennsylvania Scool of
Optometry, so he's not a total loss. Way to go, Little Bro! He might
have email soon, but I'm not holding my breath. His girlfriend,
Meredith Treser, goes to
Bucknell University
- My last living Grandparent: Ruth White Soderquist Davis. She's
going strong, and hops around the world more than I do! Oh, to be
retired... ;-) She just moved to New Port Richie from Palm Harbor, FL,
both of which are a short distance north of Tampa.
Right now, I'm lacking digitized pictures of everybody. I promise
to get around to it before Christmas, though!
