Who am I?


I am Shantanu Sinha, a graduate student at the Camera Culture Group at the MIT Media Lab.

My interests lie primarily in Computer Vision, Machine Learning, Pattern Recognition and Computer Graphics.

My hobbies include programming, photography, diving and travel.

I have been to 25 countries across Europe, North America, Asia and Africa and am a PADI certified Advanced Open Water Diver.





Research


I have worked on a number of small and large research projects at MIT, Harvard University, IIT Bombay and Nanyang Technological University.

My primary interests lie in the fields of Computer Vision, Computer Graphics, Machine Learning and vision-centric Human-Computer Interaction.

I have a wide range of skills, which can be broadly classified under Computer Science (computer vision, graphics, machine learning), Electrical Engineering (microprocessors, embedded systems, digital signal processing) and Mechanical Engineering (mathematical modelling, simulation).

Academics


At MIT, I am majoring in Mechanical Engineering, while simultaneously exploring my interests in Computer Science.

I currently hold a GPA of 8.03/10.00 in my major and an aggregate of 8.83 in Computer Science courses.

IIT-JEE 2010 was taken by about 450,000 candidates, in which I received an All-India Rank of 129, or 99.97 percentile.

For three consecutive years (2011-2013) I have been a recipient of the CBSE Merit Scholarship for Professional Studies, for receiving an All-India Rank of 86 (or 99.99 percentile) in the All-India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE).
