Laparoscope image-guided surgery using a Camera

The laparoscope camera is tradionally surrounded by fiber optic light source for illumination. However, in resulting images the shape boundaries are difficult to see.

By lighting the fibers to the left, a shadow is cast to the right of each shape boundary

The right fibers cast a shadow to the left of each shape boundary

In the traditional image, due to low contrast and similarity of colors, the shape boundaries due to lesions and grown are difficult to see.

By analyzing the shadows, we find out where the shape boundaries are and show an image that is free of shadows.
