I used to play flute and keyboards in a rock band in DC called
LavaJet. To the left is a picture of the band
rocking out during my final gig, before I moved to Cambridge to start grad school.
I was born in Boston, Massachusetts and grew up in nearby Newton,
home of the Fig Newtons.
I attended college at Northwestern University - go Cats! After
four years in Evanston, Illinois, right outside of the windy city of Chicago, I thought it would be nice to try a slightly warmer
climate for a change. I relocated to Arlington, Virginia,
where I worked for a company called MicroStrategy as a
software interfaces quality engineer on the web and desktop teams.
After a few years of bug-testing at MicroStrategy, it was time to move on and do something new. I applied to several graduate
school programs, and was accepted at all of them. I decided to come to the MIT Media Lab, and I returned to my hometown of
Boston just in time for the Red Sox World Series victory in October
of 2004.
Two years and several animatronic monkeys later, I graduated from the Media Lab. I landed a job at Nokia and have been working there since August of 2006, doing user interface design and specification for the Series 60 web browser. I also get to play with a lot of cool phones.
