  • Whispers: Pigments of Imagination

Whispers was an exploration into tangible and artistic representations of viral networks and the flow of ideas. It consists of discrete objects that pass and mix colors as they touch one another, as well as a base palette with three sliders representing R,G,B that allow the operator to select the initial colors of orbs.

  • Exploring Second Life: Connecting the real and the virtual worlds

As part of a workshop at the Media Lab in collaboration with Linden Labs, I built a demo for connecting the physical and the virtual in which an action in the virtual world caused a real LED to flicker, and pressing a physical button caused immediate action in SL.

  • The communication spans all network layers (from physical self-fabricated board up to the SL user application)

  • There are several "hops" (SL <--> HTTP Server <--> Serial Port <--> Physical interface board from serial to Internet Zero network <--> Internet Zero board with LED and Pushbutton)

  • Mechanism to dynamically hook up SL to any network device with a dynamic IP using a GMAIL account as a message box.

Pre-Media Lab

  • Hibur: An MIT-Technion Link (Oct. '04 - ?)

    • Co-founder of Hibur, an initiative between the Technion and MIT, establishing a formal structure of connections between the institutions by linking students and faculty, at the personal, professional, and academic levels. The project started as a voluntary student initiative in October 2004, and is now in the process of being formally adopted by the two institutions.

    • Headed a student delegation from the Technion to MIT for a two week visit (Sept. 2005).

    • For more info check out the Hibur Website.

  • Para-Pro: Skydiving Club Operation and Management Software (2000)

    • Designed and developed a distributed program for operation and management of Paradive Skydiving Club, where I also worked as a parachute-folding instructor way back then. It was tailored to Paradive's needs with an emphasis for intuitive operation by people not proficient with computers. The system is still operational today, more than 6 years after its installation!
