Born and raised in Paris, France, I am originally from India where I trace my roots to Pondicherry, which I visit regularly, and Bengal. My music brings those worlds together by blending western harmonies with Carnatic and Hindustani sounds and rhythms. I have 9 years of work experience in software engineering, audio signal processing, and research & development consulting in Europe, the USA and India. I received my Diplôme d’Ingénieur in Computer Science, Electronics, and Automatic Systems from ESIEA in Paris, France, and the Master of Science in Media Technology from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). I am currently a PhD student in Media Arts and Sciences, and a research assistant in Prof. Barry Vercoe’s Music, Mind and Machine Group at the MIT Media Laboratory. I have been recently named President of the Media Lab's India Initiatives, which aims to foster collaborations between the Media Lab and Indian organizations. My research interests include real-time online musical collaboration, sound analysis & synthesis, music cognition, interactive multimedia systems, and technology for development. I have traveled extensively and I enjoy skiing, cooking, and traveling.
