Personal

I was born and raised in Dhaka, Bangladesh. I attended Udayan School  and then Dhaka College for secondary and higher secondary education.

I am an inordinate fan of classical and new age music. I maintain active stations and playlists in pandora, grooveshark, spotify and youtube.

I enjoy playing cricket, soccer, table tennis (I logged more hours playing table tennis in high school than physically attending classes), tennis, squash, badminton, and bowling (highest score 206 -yes, I scanned the score sheet - pathetic!).

I sporadically go out on camping, fishing, hiking and traveling. Once camping at the Oil Creek State Park in Pennsylvania, our tent was invaded by a wild bear at night. Ask me for the details! Recently, I have started enjoying taking pictures. You can check out my photography website at http://ehsanphotography.com

I enjoy writing. Feel free to visit my Bangla blog. In my space cycles, I enjoy creative video editing. Here is a video captured through my window for a day and then time lapsed into a minute.

I lost my mother to cancer in 2008. I had dropped out of graduate school for one academic year and helped her fight the final stage of cancer for the last 7 months of her life. She is no longer with us today, but her inspiration; her wisdom; and her beautiful smile still drive me forward to this very day. She inspired me to dream big and told me that good things happen to those who try. If I could be half as productive and successful as my mother was during her 48 years of life time, I will consider myself the luckiest person on earth. Here is a poem dedicated to her memories written by Henry Van Dyke.

“Time is
too slow for those who wait,
too swift for those who fear,
too long for those who grieve,
too short for those who rejoice,
but for those who love, time is eternity.”

Here is a eulogy that I have written cherishing my long lasting memories with her. A Bangla translation is also available. I miss her everyday.

Here is an essay that I had written on my mother when I was in class 5. Its written in Bangla.
