At the LISI, the Laboratory of Applied Computer Science at Poitiers, Futuroscope, France, we are working fo many years on Example-Based Programming. In my PhD thesis, in 1992, I presented the LIKE system, which is a 'programming with example' (in Myers'terminology) that allows technical draughtsmen to create, with a 2D CAD system, programs ('macros') by command recording able to include iterations and conditionals. A more recent PhD Thesis (1995) described the EBP system (Example-Based Programming in Parametrics): EBP is a CAD PBD system which allows draughtsmen to design 'with example' parts families (in facts, programs) that can be exported to every CAD system. More, it contains a real programming environment which allows debugging. EBP is part of the European ESPRIT PLUS Project (Parts Library Usage and Supply) More recently, we have initiated some works on UIMSs, and want to introduce PBD features into tools for dialogue design and management.
