Jhonatan Rotberg

Welcome to my site: this is my short bio

Jhonatan Rotberg is the founder and director of the Next Billion Network at MIT, and the instructor of MIT's NextLab Program.

As a Lecturer at MIT's Engineering Systems Division, his current focus is on designing innovative mobile technologies that help people reduce friction in emerging markets, and on incubating ventures that allow them to scale and become sustainable.

A serial entrepreneur, he is experienced in the original conception and deployment of innovations in digital media, and in building high tech startups in emerging markets. Throughout his career, he has founded and sold various startups in the financial and high-tech sectors.

Rotberg is formerly the Telmex Visiting Scientist at the MIT Media Lab and a Lecturer at its Media Arts and Sciences Program. Previous to joining Grupo Carso, Latin America's largest telecoms holding, he spent 7 years in financial consulting and investment banking (Accenture, Baring Securities and Deutsche Bank Securities).

A native of Mexico, Rotberg is a graduate of Brown University.
