This clip (2.4 MEG MPEG) shows various people interacting with the Rhythm Tree at the Brain Opera's debut in Lincoln Center during July 1996, where the pads were mounted on several large "bags". A sample pad is shown above, top view (left) without urethane potting to show circuitry, large LED, and PVDF sensor strip, and bottom view of potted pad (right) with microprocessor and bus connections. The Rhythm Tree was designed by a large MIT Media Lab team including Ara Knaian, Josh Smith, Matt Reynolds, Maggie Orth, and Joe Paradiso. Sounds were compiled by Maribeth Back.
