Fall 2006

MAS 622J: Pattern Recognition

Roz Picard teaches a class covering machine learning techniques and algorithms. Brandon Taylor, Dan Smalley and Matt Adcock and I began the Bar of Soap, a multifunctional handheld prototype that can detect a user's grasp, (online documentation forthcoming) in this class.

Spring 2006

MAS 961: Signals, Truth & Design

Judith Donath's seminar in signalling theory (not to be confused with signal theory) is a fascinating application of behavioral ecology theory to human communities, both face-to-face and digitally mediated.

MAS 836: Sensor Systems for Interactive Environments

Joe Paradiso teaches a key class which covers the main families of sensors.

IAP 2006

Interactive Toy Design Studio

Hayes Raffle's class was super-fun and super-productive; I got Hugbot started here.

Fall 2005

MAS961: Applications For Sensor Networks

As a class, we helped build the Responsive Environments plug sensor network, and implemented two applications with the network. Dave Merrill and I built Dorsey; Amber Frid-Jimenez, Brent Fitzgerald and I built the Living Map.

Physics 123: Laboratory Electronics (Harvard)

This is an intense but well worth-it course in electronics, taught by Tom Hayes and Paul Horowitz. I knew little going in, I know a lot coming out -- enough to feel comfortable using analog and digital hardware for my projects.

MAS 510: Signals, Systems and Information

Mike Bove (my advisor) teaches a great class covering signal theory and digital signal processing.
