broken hearts pendant (2005)

design and construction of an electronically synchronized and uniquely-matched "broken-heart" pendant; cast acrylic, custom electronics.

These relationship pendants synchronize via an infrared beam and will beat a red light in unison when joined with the electronically unique matching other half.

In an alternative setup, they can also be programmed to an arbitrary social configuration, and used as a social interaction facilitator at events.

While the circuit is cast into the plastic, the battery holder functions as the necklace clip, enabling replacement of batteries and the elimination of the "on" switch from the design. The pendant becomes active as soon as it is worn.
