So I just wrote as well as I could, counting on my natural lack of talent to shine through." -Jeff Grimshaw, songpoem contest winner instructions for songpoemday 1. songpoemday is declared -- anyone can do this. 2. if everyone on the list is participating, or no one is willing to act as escrow, i will do escrow using the random number generator on my calculator. 2. you submit your lyrics by 10pm est the day before songpoemday to escrow. 3. lyrics are randomly distributed back to participants by 10:30pm est songpoemeve. 4. you should try to spend no more than an hour making your songpoem music. 5. you can work with other people who did not submit a songpoem when making your music. 6. you have until midnight on songpoemday to submit your songpoem music to escrow. 7. at midnight on songpoemday, escrow will mail me the songpoems and i will post them on the website. 8. if you are late with your songpoem twice in a row, you are off the island. its unfair to those hardworking songpoets of the world to write lyrics and make songs, but not get to hear their lyrics put to music. 9. all things are up for debate. for more information on songpoems -- the documentary which inspired this project: http://www.pbs.org/independentlens/offthecharts/film.html
