A deserted room
a table "is laid"
a family consume its meal
but mother father and son do not eat together
the ritual of the family gathered around a set table
is fulfilled but it is a ritual amputated of its main part
the family gathered, "unjusted absent"
-nobody eats with anybody else-
the only table-companion being the TV
everyone leaves a trace,
a dirty dish and the echo of a tv program.
Our glance, hidden behind a mysterious robotic eye,
moving in steps observes the table: searches as a periscope the wreck of a ritual,
IL PRANZO: we are only left with leftovers.

a tavola! was produced in 2000 in collaboration with Michele Dotto.

It was selected for the final round of the video contest "60 secondi in famiglia" (60 seconds in family), organized by the Italian filmmaker Roberta Torre. The contest set the maximum length for entries to 60".

Note for non-Italian viewers: the soundtrack of the video contains samples from the opening music of a popular Italian soap-opera, news program and cartoon.
