Community and Carpe-diem

Using ethnographic methods, we studied the ways in which students at Wellesley College and Olin College use mailing lists, what the social norms are on each campus and how those norms are transferred to new members. We compared and contrasted the ways in which communication norms are different on each campus, and based on our interviews attempted to explain why there were differences. We also attempted to generalize our findings, when appropriate, to other areas.
