1994 ´ 7'x3'x3' Microcontroller, steel, robotic mechanisms   Frustrated with the relative paucity of both the sensing and the flexibility of my previous robots, I decided to try the all-in-one approach, and build a robot capable of both subtle sensing and complex motion. From... utilized such extremely complex interfaces and actuation that it was almost completely unprogrammable. Some of the behaviors it expressed were the maintenance of house plants, the creation of abstract expressionism through dripping melted candle wax (the from...-matic behavior), and just strutting.
