I was born to a former graduate student (my mom) and former medical student (my dad) of the State University of New York at Buffalo. One later found employment as a post-doctoral fellow and the other as a Surgical Resident. My father came to the United States from Greece as a young boy, and my mother was born to a Greek family in Queens, NY, which is close enough to Greece if you've ever visited the Astoria section of Queens. However, after meeting in their Physiology class, they spoke English with each other, so I did not pick up the Greek language until much later. Currently, my father is a practicing Thoracic and Cardiovascular physician, and my mother is a professor of Biochemistry at The University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey in Newark, NJ.
After a brief stay in Riverside, California, my family settled in Essex Fells, NJ, and by this time I had a little brother, Andreas, born in August, 1976. Several years later, a sister was born, Tina (Athena), in January, 1986.
I attended The Pingry School from 8th until 12th grade and graduated in June, 1992. My sister is now a student at Pingry, as well, and will graduate in 2004.
After graduating high school, I attended the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. That's another story, which you can read about regarding my life at MIT.
My family later decided to move to a more rural part of NJ, to a town called Mendham.
