Research / Product Development Experience
	MIT Media Lab PhD Research Assistant Cambridge, MA 2005-Present Research in sensory interfaces, focusing on haptic technology. Design and prototyping of novel communication devices. Published academic research papers on haptics, multisensory design, and development of novel interfacesd. Utilized product development knowledge, research methods, and design skills to create sensory experiences and products for reflection and wellness.
	Motorola, Inc. Senior Design Engineer & Haptics Research Cambridge, MA 2002-2005 Experience prototyping and design of new user interface scenarios for mobile phones. Focus on presentation of concepts and rapid prototyping of experiences. Worked collaboratively on hard appearance models and demos using J2ME, audio editing software, and engineering design. FIled 4 patents on innovative communication techniques and prototypes.
	MIT Media Lab Masters Research Assistant Cambridge, MA 2000-2002 Designed and implemented sensorial communication devices. ComTouch is a mobile phone wrapper transmits touch as vibration and LumiTouch a digitally augmented picture frame that transmits touch as light. Presented research and prototyped demonstrations at conferences and at the Media Lab. Wrote user documentation and filed 2 intellectual property documents.
	LCS Telegraphics, Inc. Software Engineer Cambridge, MA 1997-2000 Software engineer for leading pointing device driver company. Programmed drivers in C and Assembly for tablets and touchscreens. Answered developer questions about the Wintab Application Programming Interface, a specification for pointing devices in windowing environments.
	Horiba, Ltd. Engineering and Programming Intern Kyoto, Japan Summer 1996 Programmed a window-averaging filter in C. The purpose was to smooth the driving patterns within a user-specified tolerance for an automatic driving robot. Performed emissions tests on the robot using the new algorithm to study the improvement of emissions when driving under certain conditions.
	Cummins Engine Co. Mechanical Engineering Intern Columbus, IN Summer 1995 Assisted in field test at a beta site and assisted data analysis of engine experiments. Learned how to take apart diesel engines, observe the relationship between engineers and consumers, and developed a testing database for improving efficiency by multiple engineering teams.
