Professional Experience

I am a Visiting Researcher at the MIT Media Lab's Digital Nations Consortium and a Member of the Next Generation Roundtable for Creativity, sponsored by the Lego Company. I am also a Professor and Reseracher at the School of Education of the University of Costa Rica.

My particular research interests are related with the role of technology in education and human and community sustainable development, especially for undeserved populations.

Recently, at the Costa Rica Foundation for Sustainable Development, I was the Educational and Community Development Coordinator of the Little Intelligent Communities (LINCOS), and currently I sit at its Educational Board of Advisors.

During Jose María Figueres’ administration (1994-1998), I was advisor to the Minister of Education, Eduardo Doryan, Manager of the Computers in Education Department and Director of the National Center for Didactics at the Ministry of Public Education.

Before, I have been Director of the Computers in Education Program in Costa Rica (PIE) and of the Informatics for All Program (PIT) and Coordinator of the Center for Educational Innovation, all at the Omar Dengo Foundation.

I co-founded and co-directed the preschool "El Principito" and I was a classroom teacher for five years.

My first job was as a secretary at the Center for Brazilian Studies, in San José.
